Criminal Court Cases in Wasco County
Wasco County Circuit Court hears Oregon felony and misdemeanor cases as part of the Seventh Judicial District. Four judges serve a district that also includes Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, and Wheeler counties, so current assignments should be checked on the official calendar. The clerk at 511 Washington Street, Suite 305, The Dalles, maintains the case register and filed documents. Public hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m.; the counter closes at midday.
The Dalles Municipal Court is a separate custodian at 313 Court Street. It handles traffic infractions, city ordinances, and qualifying misdemeanor or state-law matters within city jurisdiction. Dufur and Mosier have no verified active municipal court. A no-result at one court does not rule out a filing at the other.
Wasco OJD Search Rules
OJD Smart Search is free and needs no account. Enter a record, case, or citation number, or format a party name as Last, First. Search is not case sensitive. Names containing spaces or hyphens may require alternate forms. An asterisk works after at least one first-name character, three last-name characters, or four case-number characters. Soundex, labeled “Sounds Like,” cannot be combined with a wildcard.
Only the first 200 results appear. A broad Wasco County court case lookup can therefore hide the desired case beyond the limit. Add a court location, filing range, search type, or more name characters. Public results show case number, file date, type, status, and location. They do not establish a complete identity match.

Wasco Court Certified Copies
The free portal contains basic data, not pleadings or judgments. Use the Wasco court records and copy-request page when the document itself is needed.

Regular, certified, and exemplified copies are available. A raised seal cannot be emailed. What a Criminal Case File Contains
A Wasco County case file records what the prosecutor filed and what the court did. The case header identifies the number, court, filing date, type, and status. The original booking allegation is not the filed charge. Wasco County's District Attorney decides whether and what to charge, and that decision can narrow, amend, or replace an arresting officer's listed allegation.
Wasco Circuit or Municipal Case
Jurisdiction determines the correct records desk. Wasco Circuit Court handles state felony and misdemeanor prosecutions. The Dalles Municipal Court can keep traffic, ordinance, and qualifying misdemeanor or state-law matters. Its office uses 541-296-5481 extension 1124 and offers phone, counter, or request access because no verified public municipal name-search portal exists.
Read the citation and filing paperwork for the court name. If the event began with The Dalles Police, that fact alone does not identify the court. City incident material stays with the city, NORCOR keeps the booking, and either Municipal Court or Circuit Court may hold the court record according to what was filed. Criminal Case Stages in Wasco County
A law-enforcement arrest or citation may lead to a prosecutor's complaint, information, or grand-jury indictment. The arraignment is the hearing where the accusation is presented and a plea is taken. “Pending” means there is no final disposition. “Dismissed” means the charge ended without conviction. “Acquitted” is a not-guilty result after adjudication. The original arrest charge can change at any point before judgment.

OJCIN OnLine is the paid statewide alternative for frequent or deeper register access. It includes circuit-court and Oregon Tax Court register and judgment data, plus appellate ACMS information. The system updates near real time, but it is still not the official court register and entry delays remain possible. Document access depends on subscriber category.

Wasco District 7 Specialty Courts
District 7 identifies Adult Recovery Court, Family Treatment Court, and Mental Health Court as local specialty programs. These programs provide structured court oversight and services in qualifying cases. Their presence does not create a separate public criminal-history database. Relevant orders and case events remain tied to the court file, while treatment or protected personal details may have access limits.
A public docket may show that a case followed a specialty track without exposing every program record. Ask the Wasco clerk for the precise public filing rather than requesting broad treatment information. The difference protects restricted data while preserving access to the court's public acts and final judgment.
Access Rules for Case Records
Oregon public access does not place every Wasco County court case online. Adoption, juvenile, mental-health adjudication, VAWA-protected, sealed, and other confidential matters are excluded from the free search. Public party identity is limited, and filed documents do not appear in the basic result. Victim, minor, financial, medical, and safety-sensitive details may be redacted from a copy.
A blank search can also arise from spelling, a hyphen or space, a different filing court, the 200-result cap, or a delay between arrest and prosecution. Narrow the search first. Then call the Circuit Court at 541-506-2700 or use the copy channel with the case number and document name. Under ORS 137.225, a qualifying set-aside seals covered official records; the public portal should not be used to infer that a protected event never existed.
